Mather is a neighborhood high school with a college preparatory emphasis. More than 75% of our students speak a language other than English at home. When you come to Mather there are quite a few programs that can impact what job you're going to have in life. The tech house, law academy and Avid are amazing programs that students take out a lot from. These programs help a lot of students with college readiness and can help you pursue your future career. Other from the norm such as math English and science we also offer other fun classes such as art, band, orchestra, drama. This goes without saying that we also provide many different clubs and sports teams here at Mather. From the anime club, gaming club, robotics club, Vietnamese club, and sports such as lacrosse, football, swimming, and a lot more! What's awesome is that everyone has a place in Mather to hang out and communicate with people who share your interests. Mather has a rich history of providing really great academic experiences for students both inside the classroom, enrichment opportunities outside the classroom. So there is a long history of student successes, staff successes. Students that have been students at Mather graduate, go off to college, come back and give back to the school in a number of different ways. It really has created strong sense of community at our school and and it really is the people in our building that make a huge difference and really make Mather unique. We are always looking for ways to improve what we do here day-in, day-out with students and in our families and it's a really exciting time to be part of Mather. We are growing again. We've been able to welcome in a couple of new programs this year. We're really excited about the programs that we had in the past. Our law program, our IT program, our AVID program have been really strong academic supports for students throughout their years here. And this year we've added a pre-engineering program that we're extremely excited about. A digital media program which we're also very excited about. And students are really starting to see- students who live in our community already know the great things that Mather have to offer- we're starting to see students who had previously selected to maybe leave the neighborhood, come back to Mather because of what we now have to offer our students and our families here in the building. I always communicate to the students "I want you to be the best- I want you to continually pursue your best self. I want you to be a better version of yourself today than you were yesterday, a better version of yourself tomorrow than you are today. I think that if we can all follow that basic principle not only will our school continue to be great, our community will be stronger and we can really make a powerful impact not only in Chicago but beyond Chicago.
