Advancement Via Individual Determination - AVID is a program used in nearly 5,500 schools nationwide and in 16 countries and territories.  AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society.  AVID prepares students for college and career readiness through WICOR – Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading. Colleges want AVID students because they know they are prepared

  • College Ready – 100% of students who complete AVID at Mather are accepted to college

  • Successful – AVID juniors average +80 points on the SAT

  • Confident – 95% of AVID students take at least 1 AP class

  • Paid – Many AVID students have jobs their senior year and scholarships for college
