Mather Orchestra

Students will learn to play an orchestral string instrument (violin, viola, cello, or string bass).  A stringed instrument will be provided to each student and basic performance technique will be studied.  Students will learn fundamentals of music including music theory and performance.  There is a mandatory performance component in this course.  No previous music experience is required.

 

Students will continue instrumental study with an emphasis on more challenging repertoire and more advanced technique and musical concepts.  There will be two mandatory performances as well as participation in the CPS Orchestra Contest.
