This year we will collaborate with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Our activities will include hosting a CSO string quartet to perform at Mather High School, a visit to Symphony Center to observe a CSO rehearsal, participation in an orchestra summit for our most advanced students at Symphony Center (on stage performance). We will also be visited 9 times by musicians from the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. These young musicians will mentor and work with Mather beginning and advanced musicians. They will give small group and individual lessons to our students and perform in a side by side concert with our beginning and advanced orchestras in May 2020.
This is the second year in which the Mather Orchestras were chosen for this selective award.
